多年以來，因為總在青少年與成人這關卡跨不過去，所以我向來對童話與童話改編的題材有高度偏愛，於是這齣與經典童話《綠野仙蹤》（The Wonderful Wizard of OZ, 1900）頗有淵源的音樂劇《壞女巫》（Wicked, 2003），就成了旅行期間人人向我熱烈推薦的必看好戲。 

 

 歌曲背景

 

　　何以說《壞女巫》與《綠野仙蹤》頗有淵源，而不乾脆說是改編自《綠野仙蹤》呢？事實上，音樂劇《Wicked》是改編自Gregory Maguire《女巫前傳》（Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, 1995）的同名小說，書中則是用毫不流俗的角度重新詮釋了《綠野仙蹤》裡的眾女巫們，因此同名音樂劇《壞女巫》可說是承自《綠野仙蹤》，但絕非僅止於一個層次的改編之作。

 

 

　　這裡「毫不流俗」四字絕非溢美，《壞女巫》不是一般的前情提要，不只是交代《綠野仙蹤》中的角色，包括沒有心的錫人、沒有勇氣的獅子與沒有腦的稻草人，究竟從何而來；更將他們的故事完美編織到Elphaba與Glinda（原著裡的西方壞女巫與東方好女巫），在魔法學校一起求學成長的主線劇情中，相互呼應。

 

　　其中最令人嘆賞的安排，則是《壞女巫》並不單純只想顛覆讀者對原著的既定印象，反而是在「壞女巫，好女巫」的框架中翻轉再翻轉，使得一個本來可能會是在青春YA片中，「金髮美女霸凌善良少女」的尋常劇情公式；轉為從命定的外表與才華差異，到兩人跨越外在看法的真摯友情，脫胎換骨成為一部能讓觀眾深思何謂善惡二元論的深度音樂劇。如果你想看集哲學命題、八點檔親情愛情倫理大悲劇、改編童話、泛女性主義與魔法學校生活於一身的超精彩故事，那麼跟隨《壞女巫》的腳步準沒錯！
